Biographical information
After completing university studies in music and music education, Dr. Adams became a first-flutist in the United States Military Academy (West Point) Band. He simultaneously started a private flute studio which he has maintained to this day. Following six years of service with the USMA Band, he entered into a dual career of university teaching and flute performance. He was selected as the concert flutist for the roster of Siegel Music Management and in this role appeared in numerous major venues. He also delivered many clinics and master classes at universities, before the Music Educators National Conference and the National Music Teachers Association. He served as Professor of Flute at the Indiana University of PA where he taught until taking early retirement. While at IUP, he established a leading program in flute studies with graduates going on to prominent careers as music educators and performers. His private students, regardless of age or performance level, repeatedly report a learning experience that was thorough, enjoyable and stimulating.
Today Dr. Adams maintains a small teaching studio. He also enjoys performing both Classical and jazz styles in casual settings and accepts a limited number of concert and recital engagements.
